Hi all! An update, finally!
First of all, as some of you may have noticed, Striped Smiles, Dreamwalk Journal, and Unicornography were
down for a few days. The server was hacked and they took care of it, but in doing so they took care of some business that they felt was long overdue. They moved all the sites to a more secure server. This was an extensive bit of work and at one point Tugrik was at the keyboard for almost 16 hours. Whoot! Whataguy!
The end result - a much more secure server. The only problem is that they've changed their mode of dealing
with updating the sites. No more FTP. Ok. That's all I know as I use FrontPage. Now I have to use something else? I'm not sure.
But to deal with my account directly, I have to us a "secure shell client." I don't know what that is but it's been
suggested I use "PuTTY." Okay. Something new to learn Also, as I can no longer use FTP, I instead have to use SCP - um, huh?…It's been recommended I use WinSCP as I'm Windows based. I'm told I can drag-n-drop files from my desktop to my website with this. Okay. Something else new to learn.
This may take a while folks. I'm so leery of fiddling with things. I'm always afraid I'll screw things up to the
point they can't be fixed. *shakes head and sighs*
I'm such a techno-phobe.
In any case, this is the reason the sites are not being updated - especially the comic. As mentioned in the yahoo
group, we have more than enough comics to cover the next several months - it's getting them on line that's the temporary set back. I hate that. We were being so nicely consistent up until about October. I feel so unprofessional when that happens. Well, I'm off to do some techy sort of reading up on those two programs. I only hope I can understand what I'm reading...
In other news -
My foot is healing up really well. I went to the surgeons office yesterday so that he could take a look at it's
progress and change the dressing. I took a picture of it. Yah, but it can't be currently uploaded so you all are safe! *grin* But it looked much better than I anticipated! To the point that I get the stitches AND the pin taken out next Monday. Seventeen days from the day of surgery. Wow. Not even a full three weeks! How cool is that! And the toe is laying where it should! (Of course that metal pin is kind of forcing the issue. But I hope the muscles will obey it and stay there once the pin is pulled. (Again, visions of a count down and exploding zebbie! *grin*)
Hmm. Nap time. Off to heal some more!
